Park access - accessibility at Essex Country Parks

photo of item

We work hard to make sure that Essex Country Parks are as accessible as possible.

Many paths around the Country Parks are compacted gravel, good for wheelchair users and those with prams and pushchairs. Where possible, we have provided benches and picnic tables for resting. Picnic table designs are also friendly to wheelchair users.

Toilets, Tearooms and Visitor Centres are accessible, with ramps where entrances are not level.

If you have particular access needs, please call the site before your visit.

You may also find Disabled Go useful in planning your visit to Essex Country Parks.

We appreciate feedback from visitors - we know that small things can make a big difference and we're always happy to hear what we could improve - email country.parks@essex.gov.uk.

Mobility scooter hire

You can borrow one of our 4×4 (four-wheel drive) All-Terrain Tramper mobility scooters at any Essex Country Park for free if you:

  1. Register with any Shop Mobility scheme. They will give you insurance cover and training in safe scooter use.
  2. Make a booking by calling the park you want to visit, quoting your Shop Mobility scheme number.
  3. Collect the scooter from the park’s Visitor Centre.

Parking

We ask that all, including Blue Badge holders, pay a small cost to use our car parks. This money is used exclusively to maintain the parks and protect the wildlife and associated habitats.
