Shadow Box

Cressing Temple Barns

Back To Events The shadow box frame includes a 3D image: there is a moon, twinkling stars and Apollo 11 ready for launch.

What is a shadow box?

Creating a show box involves using a number of techniques to build up a 3D picture. It is suitable for complete beginners, but also offers seasoned crafters a chance to try something new. You will leave with a completed picture.

What will I do?

Guided each step of the way by Mark you will:

* Use modelling clay to make a textured moon

* Use specially designed lights to be stars - making your shadow box just as eye catching by day or night

* Cut and layer paper, card and incorporate other effects, either using pre-cut designs or creating something from your own imagination.

A source of inspiration?

On 20th July 1969 Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, this July is the 50th anniversary. Your shadow box could depict the iconic Apollo 11 mission the night before its launch (example pictured) or explore what the moon and night sky mean to you. All crafting materials provided as well as step by step tuition and a few extra surprises along the way!
