Back To Events Woman and child reading under a tree

Join us for a celebration of books, rhymes, activities and the great outdoors. Reading under a tree is a childhood memory for most of us and we remember the things we like.

Let’s see if we can give our children some memories for them to pass on to the next generation. During March there will be Read with Me Outdoor events where we will be reading a story, doing activities and singing songs.

Come along to one of these free events (car parking charges apply) and enjoy reading together in the great outdoors.

Please come dressed warmly for the outdoor sessions and prepared for messy play. Essex Libraries, Country Parks and the Talk, Listen, Cuddle Campaign would like to encourage parents to enjoy reading with their children anywhere – including under a tree.

There are packs available at every park, which contain books, activity sheets and den building kits and can be used free of charge during your visit to the park.

Why not check out your local library for their outdoor themed Baby and Toddler Rhymetimes during March, taking place at selected libraries.
