Slip back in time to the 1940’s in the historic setting of Cressing Temple, which becomes Wimlington Manor for the evening. Enjoy an authentic three course meal and then have a go at solving a very British murder mystery. The year is 1942 and the war is hitting Britain hard.
It's a time of Winston Churchill, Vera Lynn and Spam. In the normally sleepy village of Wimlington-on-Sea murder is afoot. You are invited to Wimlington Manor for a charity Gala to raise money for the war effort, but everything is not as it seems... Be greeted by glamorous and dapper wartime characters as you arrive, then go on to enjoy a four course meal based on real 1940’s recipes and ingredients:
Spam Fritters, Vegetable Soup, Rabbit Pie or Woolton Pie, a mixed vegetable and cheese sauce pie; mashed potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips and spring greens; Rhubarb Fool; Tea or Coffee. Special dietary requirements can be catered for upon request at booking.
Listen to music from the era played on a vintage gramophone and buy drinks from the onsite cash bar. Between dining, you will be watching and interacting with live actors who will guide you through a serious of mysterious events.
You will gather clues over the evening and put together your evidence ready to present your deductions over coffee at the end of the meal. This event is ideal for adults and accompanied children aged 16 upwards.
Visitors are encouraged to come in 1940s or formal attire, as befits the setting of this event. Parking on site is free. Dogs are not allowed on site.
