Join us for a celebration of books, rhymes, activities and the great outdoors. Reading under a tree is a childhood memory for most of us. Let’s see if we can give our children some memories for them to pass on to the next generation. During March there will be ‘Read with Me Outdoor’ events where we will be reading a story, doing activities and singing songs. Events are taking place at:

  • Great Notley Country Park – Monday 20 March 10am to 11am
  • Weald Country Park – Thursday 23 March 10am to 11am
  • Hadleigh Country Park – Tuesday 28 March 10am to 11am
  • Thorndon Country Park – Friday 31 March 10am to 11am

Come along to one of these free sessions (car parking charges apply) and enjoy reading together in the great outdoors. Please come dressed suitable for the outdoors and prepared for messy play.

Essex Libraries, Country Parks and the Talk, Listen, Cuddle Campaign would like to encourage parents to enjoy reading with their children anywhere – including under a tree. If you are visiting our country parks, why not come and borrow one of our ‘Read with me’ packs? They contain books, activity sheets, den building kits and can be used free of charge during your visit. Just come to the visitor centre to borrow your bag. Packs are available at:

  • Danbury Country Park
  • Weald Country Park
  • Thorndon Country Park
  • Great Notley Country Park
  • Cudmore Grove Country Park
  • Belhus Woods Country Park
  • Hadleigh Country Park. Why not check out your local library for their outdoor themed Baby and Toddler Rhymetimes during March, taking place at selected libraries.
